Artist Statement

In my artwork I most often start by creating a single element representing the beginning of an idea. The grouping of the same or similar elements and the relations amongst them becomes a story that can have various shapes and meanings. Each time I carefully choose the shape of the element, it’s range of potential growth and the ceramic process that will be used to create a bigger number of pieces. I find beauty in these pieces that are just approaching perfect shape but not quite acheiving it, so each of them is slightly different as is characteristic of everything made by nature and by hand.

Play in Clay

Igra v glini / Play in Clay is the motto of all my creation in clay in any project collaboration, in class, and in the organization of events.
This motto determines the parameters of my operation.
Creation is inextricably linked to the game.
The creative is inextricably linked to the exploration of material, processes in the laws of nature.
The artist always expresses himself in visual media with visual means of making a circle.
The artist in the visual medium can, if known, be consciously expressed in the artistic language.
The game is any communication in which the various variations of the freedom that they engulf.
If more people are playing, that sets a tone. That’s why we’re playing.
